Fighting Hunger While Reducing Food Waste
The key to our operation is efficiency and effectiveness, enabling us to feed the greatest number of people with the freshest, most nutritious food. We “rescue” food from approximately 200 donors (supermarkets, food distributors, restaurants and commercial kitchens) and deliver it the same day free of charge to more than 250 community organizations, including food pantries, food banks, shelters, day care/after school programs, senior centers serving people who are food insecure throughout Bergen County, Essex County, Hudson County and Passaic County.
Overcoming Food Insecurity One Meal at a Time
Table to Table is New Jersey’s first and only community-based food rescue program. Our mission is to collect fresh, wholesome food-- that would otherwise be wasted--and deliver it to organizations that feed the hungry in Northern New Jesey.
The Growing Need
More than 1.1 million people in New Jersey are hungry, including 1 in 9 children. And, each day, more families are lining up at food pantries and soup kitchens, waiting for our deliveries and each week brings calls from additional agencies asking for our fresh, healthy food. To all of them, this year, we have promised the delivery of 39 million meals.
