Table to Table to be Honored by Bright Side Manor at Annual Garden Party Fundraiser

August 2009 – Bright Side Manor, Bergen County’s only non-profit assisted living facility dedicated to serving low-income older adults, will honor Table to Table, the area’s only dedicated food-rescue program, at its annual Garden Party on Sunday, September 13, 2009, from 1pm to 4pm, at 300 Teaneck Road in Teaneck. Tickets are $50 for individuals and tables seating eight are $350. All proceeds from the Garden Party will benefit Bright Side Manor.

Pat Battle, Anchor and New Jersey Reporter for WNBC News 4 New York, will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon. Battle joined WNBC News 4 New York in April 1996 and serves as co-anchor for Weekend Today in New York.

“We are delighted to recognize Table to Table for its invaluable food donations over the last ten years,” said Elizabeth Davis, Bright Side Manor’s Executive Director. “One of Table to Table’s refrigerated trucks makes a stop at Bright Side at least three times a week, providing our residents with the fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat that they require to maintain a healthy diet. With Table to Table’s help, we are able to lower our operating expenses and make assisted living more affordable for low-income elderly.”

Table to Table is the only dedicated food rescue program in northeast New Jersey. Every day, the hunger relief agency collects fully cooked entrees, fresh produce and meats, dairy products and other perishables that would normally be discarded, and safely delivers them, free of charge, to soup kitchens, homeless shelters and other social service agencies in Bergen, Passaic, Essex and Hudson counties. Table to Table receives no government funding and, instead, relies solely on support from private and corporate donations. Numerous northern New Jersey individuals, businesses and organizations contribute to Table to Table’s success.
