On October 22, Local Companies and Students Bag a Lunch to Fight Hunger

September 2008 – Thousands of employees and students representing hundreds of area companies and schools will join together on October 22, 2008, to help fight hunger in their local communities. They are all participants in Table to Table’s one-day Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch initiative, which encourages individuals to donate the equivalent of one day’s lunch money to help their hungry neighbors. Proceeds from Bag a Lunch benefit Table to Table, the only dedicated food rescue program in northeast New Jersey. Table to Table collects fresh produce and meats, dairy products and other perishables that would normally be discarded, and safely delivers them, free of charge, to soup kitchens, homeless shelters and other social service agencies in Bergen, Passaic, Essex and Hudson counties.

Bag a Lunch, Help a Bunch sponsors include New Jersey Nets, North Jersey Media Group, Panera Bread, WDHA-FM 105.5 and Whole Foods Market.
For information and to become involved, go to www.tabletotable.org or contact Julie Sciaino at (201) 694-2725. Table to Table provides every company/school captain with a Bag a Lunch kit containing how-to details on running the initiative, as well as a supply of brown paper lunch bags, posters and information about the program.

Table to Table receives no government funding and, instead, relies solely on support from private and corporate donations. Numerous northern New Jersey individuals, businesses and organizations contribute to Table to Table’s success. Table to Table is the only dedicated food rescue program in northeast New Jersey, serving over 60 hunger relief agencies throughout the four counties.
